Greenhouse Workers are responsible for assisting with the cultivation, care, maintenance, and harvesting of plants grown in controlled greenhouse environments. The position involves supporting daily greenhouse operations and ensuring that crops receive proper care throughout their growing cycle.
The main duties may include planting seeds and seedlings, transplanting plants, watering and fertilizing crops, monitoring plant growth, removing weeds, pruning and supporting plants, checking for pests and diseases, maintaining growing areas, and assisting with harvesting and packing when required.
Greenhouse Workers may work with vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, ornamental plants, seedlings, and other agricultural crops. They may also assist with preparing growing media, filling planting containers, cleaning greenhouse areas, handling agricultural tools and equipment, and maintaining proper hygiene and safety standards.
The work is generally performed inside greenhouse facilities and may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and repetitive tasks for extended periods. Workers should be physically fit, responsible, hardworking, attentive to detail, and able to follow instructions from supervisors and work effectively as part of a team.
Previous experience in greenhouse work, farming, nursery operations, gardening, horticulture, or general agricultural work may be an advantage, although some positions may provide on-the-job training and may not require formal agricultural qualifications.
