A Dairy Farm Worker assists with the daily care and management of dairy cattle and supports the production of milk in farms, livestock facilities, and modern dairy operations. The role involves maintaining animal welfare, cleanliness, feeding routines, and general farm activities according to the requirements of the employer.

Daily responsibilities may include feeding and providing clean water to cattle, preparing feed and bedding, cleaning animal housing and feeding areas, monitoring the health and condition of animals, assisting with milking operations, handling calves, and maintaining clean and hygienic working environments.

Workers may also help with moving cattle between designated areas, preparing animals for milking, cleaning and sanitizing milking equipment, storing feed and farm supplies, removing manure, maintaining fences and basic farm facilities, and reporting any signs of illness, injury, or unusual animal behaviour to the farm supervisor.

The work is generally performed in barns, milking facilities, feeding areas, and outdoor farm environments. Dairy Farm Workers may need to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on public holidays because animal care and milking routines often require regular daily attention.

The position can be physically demanding and may involve standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying feed or equipment, cleaning animal areas, and working around large livestock. Workers should be physically fit, patient, responsible, attentive, and comfortable working with animals.

Previous experience in dairy farming, livestock care, animal husbandry, milking, cattle handling, or general agricultural work may be an advantage. Some employers may provide practical training for suitable applicants who are willing to learn and follow established animal welfare, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
